Locked and Loaded... (that's what she said)

High Rollers,

In the words of a one Counselor Poehlmann earlier today… “I’m all in”. That’s right, in the spirit of Final 4 season, we are down to our Elite 8. This e-mail represents the group that shall be enjoying our collective 40th birthdays in style. And, after a few confirmations these past two weeks, we have news on several fronts:

1) We have accommodations. Nice accommodations. And, while not quite as luxurious as we had planned with 10 people, the good news is the price is right Bob… around $125/night per person (e.g. well below the $200/night previously mentioned, so more money to donate to me during poker, or for Brooks to donate to Natasha from Mother Russia).
2) We have four rounds of golf confirmed… including one at one of Golf Digest’s top courses in North America
3) Flights should be taking shape. I know Victor has confirmed flights and illegal contraband. Dennis and Eric – please plan to arrive 5/13 around 7pm. Colorado contingent – be ready to pull the trigger any day as Brock is monitoring airfares in-between surfing gay porn.
4) Ground transportation for the trip is in progress, but well on track.

Watch for more frequent updates and of course the overly complicated golfing competition that shall be debated for hours.

77 Days and Counting...

Gentlemen (and Tuccio),

While you all sit reaping the obvious benefits of the economic stimulus package, Brock and I are hard at work planning for what promises to be your best birthday party ever.

Just 77 days from today, we’ll be on our way. Double lucky 7’s to throw some “player” jargon at you.

In any event, we need to run something past the group. Without ruining the surprise, we have a very compelling opportunity for a place to stay. I’m talking memorable… something that you’ll tell your grandchildren about unless you kill too many brain cells on this trip.

The cost will be no more than $240/person/night and likely more like $195/person/night once we get final confirmation from a couple people in this group.

Now, we could definitely pay less with standard hotel rooms (probably in the $125-$150/person/night), so I’m trying to gauge your thoughts on the accommodations. Please let me know ASAP if you’re willing to pay a little more. All I can tell you is we think the extra money would be well worth it for our overall enjoyment.

Finally, Brock has spent his time since returning from Hawaii working on four tee times, so we still need to know the golfing plans from Counselor, and the final trip confirmation and golfing plans from Tom and Thor (aka Greg Big Ring Schultz Thunderburger). I have messages into all of them. I think Eric had my message screened by one of his “secretaries”, Tom is trying to find his phone that he left at Hooters, and I know Greg is busy hanging out in Carmel with Clint Eastwood (no joke). In any event, I hope to hear back from all three of them shortly.

Please send me a quick note on your thoughts on the accommodations. We’ll see where the majority of votes come back and take it from there. Stay tuned… the outbound communications plan in support of our Vegas strategy are now entering the ramp phase (aka you’ll be hearing from us a lot more frequently).

p.s. As indicated in the note to Dennis this week, please plan your flights for a ~7pm arrival on May 13th and a flight back on May 17th ~5pm. Colorado contingent – we’re watching flights & rates and will send you a note when we think it’s time to book.

120 Days and counting...

That’s right, only 120 days until Vegas. Planning is commencing. As of now, here are the flight details for you early shoppers:

Arrive: Wednesday, May 13 in the early evening (aim for 7pm or so).

Depart: Sunday, May 17th in the late afternoon
Note for Colorado travelers, we’ll soon be sending recommended flights so we can all fly together.

Our current roster includes myself, Brock, BROOKS, Bildo, Ken, Eric, Victor, Dr. Mohling and Tinkles Da Tuccio

A few notes and things we need below:

1) Still need $100 deposits from Ken & Bill.
2) Need Tom to let us know if he wants to subject himself to this group again. Same for Gregory “Thor” Thunderburger Schultz.
3) We are planning 3 rounds of golf (Thursday through Saturday) with an optional Sunday round as well. So let us know if you’d like to do the 3 or all 4. If golf isn’t your bag, baby, we plan to book a hotel with pool waitresses.
4) For those who don’t want to send clubs, we can rent them at the courses
5) We are planning to book transportation for the event, so don’t reserve a car. Details forthcoming.
6) Hotel plans will start soon. We’ve had requests for something a bit more upscale than last time. I’m assuming we can find some deals given the economic climate. If anyone has any “ins” with hotels, please let us know.

Watch for a lot more details coming soon…

The gang's all here... almost

Well, well, well... we've received verbal confirmation from Dennis and Greg. And, despite rumors to the contrary, Eric does actually know how to use a computer. We received an affirmative response from the Counselor as well.

Our 3 "maybes" have very strong leanings towards attending.

That leaves us with one person yet to respond. Mr. One-Arm Bandit himself... Neil Kearney. Come on Neil. We all know your weakness for the bandit, but we promise to help you through each night.

Now that we have a solid count, we will start the trip planning. A lot to do... more to follow.

Girl selling her virginity...

http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/living/2008/09/11/gianulias.virginity.for.sale.kovr

My only comment here: Lose about 45 pounds and try again - otherwise, she's going to make enough money to attend about one semester at Junior College.

My Dear Guests, I am Mr. Rourke, Your Host...

Welcome to the Boy's 40th trip blog. Why a blog some 8 months before the trip you ask? Simple. We need something to pass the time.

So, check back often... we'll be posting new topics for comment, voting on various aspects of the trip, putting up some great content from the past 40 years and even providing a few of our favorite photos from boys outings of the past... like the one you see on the home page today.
